Cathay Pacific Flight Incident: 11 Passengers Injured in Hong Kong


HONG KONG: Cathay Pacific issued a statement revealing that eleven individuals were injured during the aborted takeoff of flight CX880 at Hong Kong's international airport. The incident occurred as a result of a technical issue.

On a flight from Hong Kong to Los Angeles, which consisted of 17 crew members and 293 passengers, "an aborted takeoff was conducted in compliance with standard protocols. The decision to abort the takeoff was made by the crew after detecting a technical issue."

Cathay Pacific confirmed that injuries were sustained by individuals during a precautionary evacuation conducted at the gate following the aborted takeoff. Passengers exited the aircraft using five door escape slides, resulting in the reported injuries.

"According to the latest update, Cathay Pacific stated that out of the eleven passengers who received medical treatment at hospitals, nine have already been discharged. The airline assured that their staff members will continue to offer support to the two passengers who remain hospitalized, as well as their families."

Cathay Pacific sincerely apologized to its customers for the disruption encountered during the incident and acknowledged the inconvenience caused.

According to a report from public broadcaster RTHK, citing police sources, one of the aircraft's tires overheated and subsequently burst.
