OpenAI has introduced CriticGPT, an AI tool based on GPT-4, designed to identify errors in ChatGPT's outputs. Unlike other LLMs geared towards users, CriticGPT is crafted to critique ChatGPT responses, assisting human trainers and coders in spotting mistakes during reinforcement learning from human feedback.
OpenAI reports that CriticGPT improves code review outcomes by over 60% when compared to earlier models. Plans are underway to integrate CriticGPT into the Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) system. Additionally, CriticGPT can write critiques that highlight inaccuracies in ChatGPT’s responses.
Furthermore, OpenAI aims to develop CriticGPT by integrating sophisticated methods to bolster human feedback for GPT-4. This approach highlights the ongoing significance of human oversight in AI development, despite the rising dependence on automation.
There are specific limitations to CriticGPT. It is unable to produce longer, more detailed critiques at this time, being trained on shorter ChatGPT responses. Future developments may enable it to handle more complex and lengthier tasks.
OpenAI warns that the model continues to produce hallucinations, potentially leading trainers to errors. The firm also mentioned that real-world mistakes can be scattered across different parts of an answer, and they plan to pinpoint these errors to assist coders in identifying all inaccuracies.
